My sister has just told me about a Volkswagen commercial which is being broadcasted in Brazil. In fact, the topic started because she wanted to know what city München was. The funny thing is that she has already visited München but she only knew it as Munique, the Portuguese version for Munich. I guess it’s already clear that my sister’s definitely not interested in soccer.
After she told me what the commercial was about, I decided to check if I could find it online. Here it is:
In a nutshell, the commercial wants to show that Brazil and Germany have some things in common. It points out that since Brazilians are very creative, we have adopted the German perfectionism and also want to have the best of all.
I really like the idea and how they try to make the differences look like similarities. To top it off, the two kids singing the same song (Mas Que Nada by Sergio Mendes, popular in Germany after the Black Eyed Peas recorded it) shows that we are really not that far apart.
